How do prices vary around the UK?
Labour is the main reason. We adjust the national guide for each region:
| Region | Compared with the UK guide |
|---|---|
| London | About 25% above the guide |
| South East England | About 12% above the guide |
| East of England | About 6% above the guide |
| South West England | In line with the guide |
| West Midlands | In line with the guide |
| East Midlands | About 4% below the guide |
| North West England | About 6% below the guide |
| Yorkshire and the Humber | About 7% below the guide |
| North East England | About 10% below the guide |
| Wales | About 7% below the guide |
| Scotland | About 4% below the guide |
| Northern Ireland | About 12% below the guide |
What pushes the price up or down?
- Layout. Keeping the WC on the same soil stack position and the shower where it is saves plumbing; moving them adds £1,200–£2,800 or more.
- Size and tiling. Full-height tiling in a large room can double the tiling cost compared with tiling the wet areas only.
- Products. Wall-hung pieces, concealed valves, stone and large-format tiles cost more to buy and take longer to fit.
- What we find. Rotten joists, old lead pipework or no extraction are priced and agreed with you before any extra work.
