Working in Caerphilly

We work right across Caerphilly — CF15 and CF83 — and in neighbouring Risca and Pontypridd.

In Caerphilly, as anywhere, the age of the house decides a lot: pipe sizes, floor construction and where the soil stack runs. We plan shower rooms in Caerphilly around the waste route first, so the tray has a good fall and drains quickly. If nobody in your Caerphilly home has used the bath in a while, a shower room puts that space to better use.

Supplies across Gwent range from soft to hard depending on the source. A quick wipe of the glass and an easy-clean coating are worth having on a new shower in Caerphilly. Hardness varies street by street, so check the figure for your postcode with your water supplier.

What the job includes

Tanking to the shower area, then wall and floor tiling
An enclosure, walk-in panel or frameless screen in toughened safety glass
Extractor fan, lighting and towel rail wired by a qualified electrician, tested and certified
Recessed niches or shelving in the shower wall

Decisions to make first

Glass

8 mm toughened glass is the usual standard for a walk-in panel. An easy-clean coating helps a great deal in hard-water areas.

Storage

With no bath, there is often space for a full-width vanity unit or a tall cupboard for towels.

Rules that apply in Wales

Wales has its own Part P and Part F. More electrical work is notifiable there than in England, and the extract rates are similar.

Shower rooms in Caerphilly: questions

How much should I budget for a shower room in Caerphilly?

A shower room in Caerphilly usually costs £4,200–£8,400 including VAT. The final figure comes down to what you choose and what we find at the survey; your written quote lists every item so you can see where the money goes.

Who handles building control for a shower room in Caerphilly?

Building control for Caerphilly is handled by the local council or an approved inspector. If your job needs sign-off — for example a new circuit, new drainage or a new extractor where there was none — we tell you at the survey and handle the notification as part of the work.

How long does a shower room take?

Allow 4–8 working days on site for most jobs, plus the lead time for products after you approve the quote. We give you a day-by-day plan before work starts in Caerphilly.

Is the home survey in Caerphilly really free?

Yes. We visit, measure the room, check the pipework, drainage and electrics, and talk through what you want. You then get a written, itemised quote with no obligation to go ahead.

Can a shower room have a level floor?

Yes. A tiled level floor with a former and linear drain gives a seamless look and level access, but it needs full tanking of the shower area and a suitable floor build-up. On a timber floor, the former is set between the joists; on a concrete floor, the screed may need cutting out to set the drain.
