Working in Buxton

As well as Buxton itself (SK17), we survey in New Mills, Macclesfield and Leek.

Being a smaller town does not change how we work in Buxton: free survey, written quote, one team. If your Buxton shower enclosure has a leaking door seal or a cracked tray, a walk-in panel removes the door altogether. We measure walk-in showers in Buxton so the tray and panel are sized together, which is what keeps the spray in.

Water across much of Derbyshire is moderately hard. A quick wipe of the glass and an easy-clean coating are worth having on a new shower in Buxton. Hardness varies street by street, so check the figure for your postcode with your water supplier.

What the job includes

Tanking to the shower walls, and to the floor where it is tiled
A thermostatic valve with a riser rail, a fixed head or both
A low-profile stone-resin tray, or a floor former with a linear drain for a tiled level floor
Removal of the old bath or enclosure and making good to the walls and floor

Decisions to make first

Tray or tiled floor

A tray is quicker, costs less and has a small lip. A tiled floor with a linear drain sits level with the rest of the room and lets one tile run throughout.

Head

A large overhead head feels luxurious but needs good flow. A handset on a riser is easier for rinsing hair and cleaning the shower.

Rules that apply in England

In England, moving or adding lights, a fan or a shower circuit in a room with a bath or shower is notifiable under Part P. A tiled level floor that needs a new drain connection at the soil stack can bring in Part H.

More about walk-in showers

Walk-in showers in Buxton: questions

What is the price of a walk-in shower in Buxton?

A walk-in shower in Buxton usually costs £2,400–£5,800 including VAT. Expect the lower end for a like-for-like job with standard products, and the upper end if things move or you choose premium finishes. Your quote is itemised and fixed in writing once agreed.

How long does a walk-in shower take?

Allow 2–5 working days on site for most jobs, plus the lead time for products after you approve the quote. We give you a day-by-day plan before work starts in Buxton.

Is the home survey in Buxton really free?

Yes. We visit, measure the room, check the pipework, drainage and electrics, and talk through what you want. You then get a written, itemised quote with no obligation to go ahead.

Do you cover SK17 in Buxton?

Yes. We cover all of Buxton, including SK17, and nearby New Mills, Macclesfield and Leek. Survey visits are free and arranged at a time that suits you.

Are walk-in showers easy to clean?

Easier than an enclosure, because there are no door seals, runners or hinges to collect grime. A single panel with an easy-clean coating needs a quick squeegee after use, especially with hard water, and large tiles mean fewer grout lines to scrub.
